moQotD 20060120: Skema

If being skema means following the sirat al-mustaqiim, then
heck yes, I want to be skema!

for non-Malayspeaking readers:
skema: adj, being a straight stick.

And no, I don't want to translate "sirat al-mustaqiim". Google it, and fair chance that you'll get much better definitions than whatever my shallow knowledge can come up with.

I was already in college when I first heard of the term/label "skema". Never heard of it when I was in high school. I still get a little upset when other people are being laughed at or ridiculed for being "skema" :(

heh, i've been called skema since as far back as i can remember. although in some instances i do behave like one, i think more often than not i'm being eccentric rather than skema. Skema people don't walk backwards to class. Skema people don't use biore pore-pack as a fashion statement. skema people don't install homemade retractable side mirrors on their baseball caps. and so on and on :B

aaah... i miss those innocent years, when i was oblivious and impervious to outside world's ridicules, proud to strut my style blithely around. Now I'm just another disenchanted pragmatic bloke with only the occasional streaks of idealism.
