Capping smear?

This incident happens too often enough to warrant creation of its own word:
The act of missing its mark when you're trying to cap your pen/marker and ended up smearing your fingers/palm. It might be followed by a small cursing, depending on the temperemental of the person.
So let's see what would be a good word/phrase to describe this phenomenon...:
  • capping smear?
  • cap smear?
  • capping incident?
  • capping miss?
  • cap miss?
  • miscap? <-- hey, got a pun value there!

Opinions, suggestions, all are welcomed. So is an indignant rebuff about first rights to creation of the word... (in that case, *sigh*....)

Hmm..
1. Cap smear sounds like pap smear :S
2. Miscap kinda sounds OK since misapply = apply improperly, and misbehave = behave improperly, so miscap can be "cap improperly". And yeah.. miscapping is a total mishap, especially when you've forgotten about the smear and absent-mindedly scratch your itchy nose.

Pap smear is.. uhh.. a procedure used to detect cervical cancer, which is the second most common cause of cancer-related disease and death among women worldwide. Scary..

it is second most common women malignancies worldwide after breast cancer. i used to have a problem in getting sufficient cervical scrapes for my research.malaysia still lacking statistical infos on cervical cancer cases.pap smear is just a common procedure where the gynea will scrape lil bit of cervical tissue, keep it in alcohol, run a test, within a week or two you'll get the result.the problem is malaysian women very the malu, takut nak buat pap smear. (mr.haya shiloh, tumpang lalu untuk iklan..dengan izin) i would like to encourage women out there, go for pap smear test,at least once a year.prevention is better than cure~pls pass this msg to ur (and ur friends) mother and sisters.

Ya, ya, saya sangat setuju dengan anonymous di atas. It is pretty disturbing to discover that most of my friends, who are university educated, have noooo idea at all about those various cancer-screening procedures (pap smear, mammography.. etc.). Malu-malu tu satu hal, ditambah pulak dengan kurangnya pendedahan berkenaan isu kesihatan diri dan keluarga. Kita mungkin sangat memerlukan orang seperti anonymous di atas untuk mendidik masyarakat kita. If I'm not mistaken, the number one killer-cancer for women in the US and UK (or is it Europe?) right now is lung cancer. :S

'capping smear' would be like a nominal phrase, what would the verb / verbal phrase be?

dood, what in the name of tiger is a nominal phrase btw?!?

well, to answer your question (or rather, to evade it actually), seems like 'miscap' seems to be a more favored choice here - usage of which should solve your dilemma intuitively.
